This is the skeleton of a man who had fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva!!
As he aged, any bump or injury caused more bone to grow inside him — in places it shouldn't. If you look at the ribs you see this sheeting action, almost like dripping down. It looks like icicles of bone. In the end, he could only move his lips. He died at 39 and asked that his skeleton stay at Mutter Museum.
Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva is an extremely rare connective tissue disease. The disease is caused by a mutation of the body's repair mechanism, which causes fibrous tissue (including muscle, tendon, and ligament) to be ossified spontaneously or when damaged. In many cases, injuries can cause joints to become permanently frozen in place. Surgical removal of the extra bone growths has been shown to cause the body to "repair" the affected area with even more bone. There is currently no cure or approved treatment for it.

Yes, in life you will have people around you, who no matter what you do, will only look for the mess, or even only see the thorns on the roses!
In my eyes, I only see the beauty of everything & everyone around me. Where by going to the hospital everyday, I see hope, and that we can do something to make things better. I’m better off living in my own world 🌸
